Dortmund vs BayernFor the fourth time in last five years, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Munich will be vying for the German Super Cup trophy, with the Millionaires winning the last two matches.

Even if both sides will be without some regular starters, plenty of fireworks are expected at Signal-Iduna Park on Sunday evening.

In spite of all their efforts, Borussia Dortmund failed to mount a serious title challenge last term, while also failing to reach the final stages of the Europa League.

With that in mind, it is clear that the Millionaires will be looking to show improvement this season, and they have been quite busy in the summer transfer window.

While they could not prevent Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from leaving, the club made sure to sign proper replacements.

Prodigal son Mario Gotze returned to BVB, while in came Andre Schurrle, Mikel Merino, Ousmane Dembele, Emre Mor, Marc Bartra, Sebastian Rode and Raphael Guerreiro, so this was not exactly a bad transfer window for the Millionaires.

Borussia Dortmund had mixed success in pre-season, but coach Thomas Tuchel is happy with how his players have worked and he plans to field the strongest possible line-up against Bayern.

The hosts will have to make do without Matthias Ginter and Sven Bender, who are away on international duty, while Marco Reus is not yet ready to return from an adductor injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Burki – Piszczek, Sokratis, Bartra, Guerreiro – Weigl – Dembele, Gotze, Castro, Schurrle – Aubameyang.

After a former Barcelona coach failed to take Bayern Munich to desired heights, former Real Madrid boss will attempt to bring improvement at Allianz Arena.

A new era starts with Carlo Ancelotti, the man who might need some time to make this team his own, but the club chiefs will demand results instantly.

Unlike their Bundesliga rivals, Bayern did not make too many signings this summer, although both Mats Hummels and Renato Sanches are expected to improve the quality of the squad.

The most important thing is that all key men remained at Allianz Arena, while the club got rid of some dead weight, with Gotze, Benatia, Rode and Hojbjerg leaving.

Despite not impressing in pre-season, Bayern have been made 2.33 (4/3) favourites to win the Super Cup clash, but they, too, are missing several first team players.

Douglas Costa and Jerome Boateng are short of fitness after recovering from injury, while Arjen Robben and Renato Sanches are definitely sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Neuer – Lahm, Martinez, Hummels, Alaba – Alonso – Muller, Vidal, Thiago, Ribery – Lewandowski.
