Sunderland ensured their Premier League status with a somewhat unlikely point at Arsenal yesterday, meaning that either Hull City or Newcastle United will be relegated to the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Dick Advocat’s side strung together a five game unbeaten run to get themselves over the line, and lost just two of the eight games in which the former Rangers boss has been in charge while Midlands duo Leicester City and Aston Villa’s survival was guaranteed last weekend.

Despite a miserable run which has seen them take just one point from their last ten games, Newcastle are in pole position to stay up, with victory sure to save them from a second relegation to the second-tier in six years.

Standing in their way is Sam Allardyce’s West Ham United, who themselves have won just one of their last seven games and haven’t won on the road in the league since beating West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on December 2nd.

John Carver’s side are priced at 1.8 (4/5) with Betfred to get the win while the draw, which is 4.1 (31/10) with Bet Victor, will be enough should Hull fail to win at home to Manchester United.

Tigers’ boss Steve Bruce has never beaten the side he won three league titles with, in seventeen years as a manager and the stakes have never been higher.

Hull have lost six of their last eight games, and only a win coupled with dropped points by Newcastle will mean that they will be playing top-flight football next season.

In their seven previous meetings with Manchester United, they have taken no points, and have conceded at least three goals in all but one of those games.

However, with third place almost certainly out of reach for Louis van Gaal’s side and a top four finish already in the bag, you may be tempted to back the home win at 3.3 (23/10) with Bet Victor.

The Humberside club are unsurprisingly odds on favourites to go down at 1.17 (1.6) with a variety of bookmakers, while Newcastle are widely available at 6.0 (5/1) to be playing Championship football next season.
