The first round of Premier League fixtures in 2014 rounds off at Old Trafford as champions Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur.

David Moyes’ men ended 2013 strongly with six wins from six in all competitions following a stuttering start to their title defence.

Wayne Rooney, who missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Norwich City with a groin problem faces a late fitness test ahead of the game, while the game may also come too soon for Robin van Persie but Antonio Valencia is set to return following his suspension.

Danny Welbeck, who bagged his sixth league goal of the season last time out is 6.5 (11/2) with Bet Victor to open the scoring, with Adnan Januzaj a 9.0 (8/1) shot with the same firm.

The home win is 1.83 (5/6) with Bet Victor, who price the draw at 3.9 (29/10). Spurs are a 5.0 (4/1) chance with Bet 365.

The visitors beat Stoke City 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to take their points tally to seven points from nine under new manager Tim Sherwood, and victory here could see them move into the top four should other results fall in their favour.

Paulinho misses out after being ruled out for up to four weeks with an ankle injury, while Jermaine Defoe is doubtful with a hamstring problem though Kyle Walker is set to return after being suspended for the trip to the Britannia Stadium at the weekend.

Roberto Soldado is 10.0 (9/1) with Paddy Power to get the first goal of the game, with Emmanuel Adebayor an 11.0 (10/1) shot with the same firm.

The sides drew 2-2 when the sides met at White Hart Lane a month ago, while Spurs won last season’s corresponding fixture – their first win at Old Trafford since 1989.

With goals on the agenda more times than not when these sides have met in recent years, you may want to take advantage of Bet Victor’s offer of 2.9 (19/10) for there to be four or more scored this time around.

Alternatively, the United are priced at 3.5 (5/2) with Ladbrokes to win with both teams scoring in the game as they have four times in the last five seasons against the North Londoners.
