baileyJamaica teenager Leon Bailey is being closely monitored by Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho continuing to follow the progress of the 19-year-old Genk winger.

Portuguese tactician wanted to sign Bailey at Chelsea last year and Manchester Evening News have learned that Manchester United manager continues to closely follow the highly-rated teenager, who has been nominated for the Golden Boy award last week alongside some of the Europe’s hottest prospects like Marcus Rashford, Kingsley Coman, Renato Sanches and others.

Young Player of the Year in Belgium from last season, Leon Bailey has extended his fine form to the current campaign as well, having already scored five goals in 10 appearances for the Belgian side.

Dutch giants Ajax are also believed to be eyeing the talented Jamaican, but Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of Bailey’s talents and is thought to be dead-set on bringing the up and coming winger to Old Trafford.

Leon Bailey is a left-footed winger who primarily operates from the left flank.

His versatility allows him to switch sides and play on the right wing as well, which he has so far successfully demonstrated on a couple occasions for the Belgian First Division’s side.

Bailey is a Jamaica Under-23 international and is yet to make his senior appearance for the country.

The talented midfielder made his debut for Genk last year when he went on to notch 36 appearances for the club, helping his team qualify for the UEFA Europa League. Bailey has already netted three goals in two Europa League games this term.

Manchester United are also taking part is this year’s edition of the UEFA Europa League, but have not been off to the best of starts having lost the opening match to Feyenoord 1-0 and scraping past Zorya later in September in their second appearance in the competition.

Red Devils are due to face Fenerbahce later in October and are given the betting odds of 1.55 (11/20) @WilliamHill to come out on top against Turkish giants.
