The number of teams from the league championship that qualifies for the Champions League is determined by UEFA coefficients, but four is the maximum number of sides a league can enter into the competition. Thirty two teams that reach the group stage are divided into eight groups of four teams, with top two sides qualifying for the last 16 stage. Knockout round starts from the last 16 stage, with teams playing each other twice and away goal rule used to determine the winner where needed. The final game is usually played on neutral ground, that is unless one of the teams that were supposed to host the final event qualify for the final.
