Brest vs Paris Saint-Germain

Brest climbed to 11th place by taking four points from last two games, but they are still just four points clear of the bottom three and have got to try and get something from this game. Paris Saint-Germain returned to the race for Champions League places with back to back wins over Caen and Lyon, with the Saints now looking to make it three in a row.

Brest still not safe

Stade Brest had a great start to the Ligue 1 campaign after gaining promotion from the second division, but they have shown a lot of weaknesses in the second part of the season and are set for a difficult survival struggle. Alex Dupont’s side ended the four-match losing run as they beat Rennes, but they were then very lucky to avoid defeat in Lens, after les Sang et Or completely dominated the game. Brest currently sit four points clear of the relegation zone, but seeing they will face sides like Montpellier, Marseille, Lyon and Toulouse after the PSG match, the hosts have every reason to fear for the outcome of the season. They now have the misfortune of facing high-flying Paris Saint-Germain, so I am not really sure they can continue the good run of results. Brest have lost two out of last three home games, meaning that PSG have no reason to fear the trip to Stade Francis-Le Ble.

Omar Daf and Theopfile N’Tame remain sidelined, but coach Alex Dupont has no fresh injury worries.

Paris Saint-Germain finally playing to their potential

While being very close to the top of the standings throughout the season, Paris Saint Germain weren’t as consistent as their fans would have liked, but Alain Kombouare’s side have hit top form in the best possible time. Paris Saint-Germain returned to the title race with impressive victories over Caen and Lyon, while they also qualified for the Coupe de France final by beating Angers, meaning the Saints enter the closing stage of the season full of confidence. Key players Nene, Erdinc and Bodmer have shown a massive improvement of late, while the fact that the boss finally has almost full squad to choose from has had a very positive effect. Having won their last two away games, the Saints enter this match high on confidence, while there is no doubt they have enough quality to continue the impressive run of results.

Apart from Peguy Luyindula, Antoine Kombouare will have full squad to choose from.

Verdict

Brest are largely struggling at the moment and they are no longer a force to be reckoned with at home, which is something that high-flying PSG will be looking to exploit. The Saints have been in great form of late and everything suggests they will record the fourth straight win in all competitions.
