Saturday’s World Cup fixture in Manaus sees 1966 winners England face three time champions Italy in the second match in Group D.

Roy Hodgson’s side went through qualification for this summer’s tournament unbeaten, though they have won just two of the six games they have played since booking their place in Brazil.

They beat Peru in their first of three warm-up games two weeks ago, before drawing with Ecuador and Honduras in Miami.

Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may have to wait until game two to make his World Cup bow, while Danny Welbeck of Manchester United and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard should win their respective battles to be fit in time to feature.

United’s Wayne Rooney, who scored his first international goal since last October in Miami, is 7.0 (6/1) to get the first goal of the game, with Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge an 8.0 (7/1) chance with Ladbrokes.

England are 3.1 (21/10) with Coral to take all three points, with Italy slight favourites at 2.8 (9/5) with Bet 365. The draw is a 3.0 (2/1) shot with most firms.

Like the English, Italy avoided defeat in qualification, and they also have struggled since securing their position at the finals with their only win in their last eight games coming against Brazilian club side Fluminese last weekend.

Prior to that match in Rio de Janeiro, Cesare Prandelli’s side drew with both the Republic of Ireland and Luxembourg.

Experienced Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli in an injury doubt for the game, while captain Ricardo Montolivo of Milan was ruled out of the tournament after breaking his leg at Craven Cottage two weeks ago.

Milan forward Mario Balotelli is favourite to open the scoring at 7.0 (6/1) with Bet 365, while Borussia Dortmund bound Ciro Immobile is an 8.0 (7/1) chance with Bet Victor.

They sides last met in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, with the Italians winning on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes.

At 3.0 (2/1), the draw cannot be ignored, while you may prefer to take advantage of the value offered by BetFred, who price each the 1-1 and 0-0 scoreline at a tempting 5.5 (11/2).
