Thiago SilvaBrazil captain Thiago Silva will miss the semi-final clash against Germany after FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided to uphold the yellow card the player received against Colombia.

The PSG star received his second booking of the tournament for blocking Colombia keeper David Ospina, resulting in automatic suspension, but Brazil officials then appealed against the decision.

FIFA Disciplinary Committee has now revealed that they did not even consider the appeal since exceptional circumstances do not apply in this case.

“The disciplinary committee … cannot consider the matter given the fact that there is no legal basis entitling it to grant such request,” a statement read.

At the same time, the FIFA committee opted against punishing Colombia full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga for a strong tackle on Neymar that saw the Brazilian superstar pick up a tournament-ending injury.

With two important players missing the semi-final against Germany, Brazil do not seem to be favourites to go through, although they are available at 2.80 (9/5) to win in 90 minutes.

One of Willian or Bernard is expected to deputize for Neymar, whilst Bayern Munich stopper Dante will start alongside David Luiz in the heart of defence.
