Radamel FalcaoMonaco striker Radamel Falcao Garcia is set to join the Colombia squad as los Cafeteros start their World Cup preparations, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) announced on Tuesday.

Jose Pekerman will assemble his provisional World Cup squad in Buenos Aires and it has now been revealed that his star striker will be present in spite speculations suggesting he could pull out of the squad.

“Radamel Falcao Garcia will join his teammates in Buenos Aires. At present, the forward is continuing with his physical work at his club Monaco,” the FCF said in a statement.

The highly rated striker has resumed training from a knee injury well ahead of schedule and he was subsequently named in Jose Pekerman’s provisional squad for the World Cup.

The Argentine coach has until 2 June to announce his final 23-man squad for the tournament finals and it remains to be seen if Falcao will be included.

Colombia are set to face Senegal and Jordan on 31 May and 6 June respectively in the final warm-up games before they embark on the first World Cup after 16 years.

And having been pitted against Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan, it is hardly surprising los Cafeteros have been made 1.83 (5/6) favourites to win Group C.
