Angel Di MariaArgentina star Angel Di Maria could miss the World Cup semi-final clash against Netherlands through a thigh problem.

The Real Madrid midfielder was forced to come off right after the half-hour mark of the quarter-final match against Belgium, having picked up a muscle injury while shooting on goal.

He was replaced by Benfica footballer Enzo Perez, who did well for the remainder of the game, and he might have to deputize for Di Maria in the semi-finals against the Dutch.

“Angel has a problem in his right thigh and he is going to do an analysis on Sunday,” Los Albicelestes boss Alejandro Sabella told reporters.

Together with Lionel Messi, Di Maria played a key role in helping the national team remain in the hunt of the trophy, scoring a very late winner against Switzerland in the process.

His potential absence could seriously hurt Argentina’s chances against Netherlands, but Los Albicelestes remain 2.40 (7/5) favourites to win in regular time.

Alejandro Sabella through will have full-back Marcos Rojo back from suspension, while Martin Demichelis is expected to keep his place in the side.
