Argentina vs SwitzerlandThree wins in the group stage meant Argentina avoided France in the Last 16 stage, but the Switzerland game is definitely not going to be a walk in the park.

Following a slow start, the Swiss proved they have got plenty of talent in the ranks, and they will try to make life difficult for Los Albicelestes.

In spite of coming on top of the South American Zone of World Cup qualifiers, Argentina were not exactly expected to go all the way at the tournament finals, with many doubting Lionel Messi would be able to finally shine on international stage.

But, Los Albicelestes and the Barcelona superstar both proved the doubters wrong, with Alejandro Sabella’s charges recording three group wins, in a big part thanks to Messi.

The forward scored decisive goals against both Bosnia and Iran before adding a brace against Nigeria and he is now 1.73 (8/11) to continue the run against Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Argentina are available at 1.50 (1/2) to win in regular time and set up a quarter-final clash with either Belgium or United States.

Los Albicelestes are not without problems as Sergio Aguero has been ruled out through injury, with Ezequiel Lavezzi expected to deputize.

The situation regarding potential quarter-final suspensions is pretty good, with full-back Marcos Rojo the only player on a yellow card.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Romero – Zabaleta, Garay, Fernandez, Rojo – Gago, Mascherano, Di Maria – Messi – Lavezzi, Higuain.

Having shown a great deal of potential during the qualifying campaign, Switzerland were tipped to at least reach the Last 16 stage, but things haven’t gone as smoothly as expected.

The Rossocrochiati showed a lot of quality and character to overcome Ecuador in their opening match, but a 5-2 defeat to France suggested they might not yet be ready to match world’s best sides.

Switzerland then recorded an easy win over Honduras to make it to the next stage, but jury is still out on Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side.

And it is precisely the Argentina game that should show us where they are at the moment, with the Swiss 4.50 (7/2) to qualify for the quarter-finals.

While the tournament is over for Steve von Bergen, Ottmar Hitzfeld has no fresh injury worries, with Fabian Schar again set to be preferred to Philippe Senderos.

After combining for two goals against Honduras, Josip Drmic and Xherdan Shaqiri will be the men to watch on Tuesday afternoon.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Benaglio – Lichtsteiner, Djourou, Schar, Rodriguez – Inler, Behrami – Xhaqiri, Xhaka, Mehmedi – Drmic.
