Raphael VaraneFrench defender Raphael Varane is set to miss the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, according to reports from France.

Los Blancos have moved to confirm that the talented footballer has suffered a grade two injury of the left thigh muscle, but there was no information on the expected return date.

However, media in Spain claim that Varane is certain to miss the Champions League final at San Siro, where Real Madrid 2.50 (3/2) to win the game in regular time.

Chances are that the Frenchman would not be in the starting line-up even if he were fit, as Sergio Ramos and Pepe form the preferred centre-back pairing.

However, coach Zinedine Zidane will certainly be hoping Varane recovers as soon as possible, especially since he is an important player for the France national team.

Les Bleus begin their Euro 2016 campaign with the game against Romania on 10 June, and it is believed that the centre-back might not recover in time for the tournament curtain-raiser.
