Messi KhediraBarcelona superstar Lionel Messi could be set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in midweek.

The Argentine was surprisingly selected to start the game at Bay Arena despite the fact that the Catalans had long ago secured the first place in the group.

And coach Luis Enrique could now live to regret the fact that his star man played full ninety minutes in Leverkusen as he reportedly felt a pain in his hamstring.

The Argentine forward is now rated doubtful for weekend’s match against Deportivo La Coruna, where the Catalans are 7/20 for a half-time/full-time win.

Barcelona are now focusing their efforts on the upcoming Club World Cup and that was probably the reason why Luis Enrique wanted Messi to gain some more match practise after he had missed a couple of months through a knee problem.

The Champions League holders will face either Club America or Guangzhou Evergrande in the Club World Cup semi-final.
