CSKA Moscow are concerned about the fitness of star player Keisuke Honda after he missed the Champions League clash with Lille through a knee problem.

The Japanese playmaker only returned into action at the weekend following a three-month spell on the sidelines, but he was unable to take part in team’s clash with Lille.

CSKA boss Leonid Slutsky revealed that Honda had felt a pain in the knee after the clash with Rubin and he was later sent to Spain for examination.

The 25-year-old is, therefore, likely to miss CSKA’s game against Anzhi Makhachkala on Sunday and he is doubtful for team’s crucial Champions League game with Inter.

“Injury problems didn’t allow us to show our best football. As soon as our players are getting a bit better and they have to go out on the pitch right away,” Slutsky told reporters.

After losing at home to Lille, the Army Men need to beat Inter and hope that Lille and Trabzonspor will share spoils in the second group game, but that looks like a mission impossible at the moment.

It looks as though Leonid Slutsky’s men will now turn to the Russian Premier League, where they are no less than 3.50 (5/2) with Paddy Power to win the coveted title.
