Galatasaray vs Real Madrid preview

Real Madrid vs GalatasarayThe 3-0 defeat at Santiago Bernabeu means Galatasaray face mission impossible as they prepare to take on Real Madrid at their Turk Telekom Arena, but the Turks are hoping to at least go out with a bang.

There was nothing to suggest that this would be a pretty successful season for the club when Fatih Terim’s side were struggling in all competitions in the early exchanges.

But the team kept raising their game as the season unfolded and they quickly got their campaign back on track.

High-profile signings of Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba acted as an additional boost and Gaatasaray in turn qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals by eliminating Schalke.

In spite of the fact they had been pitted against mighty Real Madrid, Fatih Terim believed his side could produce a promising showing at Santiago Bernabeu, but the 3-0 defeat shattered their dreams.

In all fairness, Galatasaray matched their opponents for large periods of the game, but their inexperience ended up costing them dearly.

All that’s left now is to try and win the return leg at Turk Telekom Arena, with home win paying 5.00 (4/1) at BetFred.

The problem is that two key players, Burak Yilmaz and Dany Nounkeu, miss out through suspension, but at least Didier Drogba is in good spirits having scored a brace at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Muslera – Eboue, Kaya, Zan, Riera – Altintop, Melo, Inan, Sneijder – Drogba, Bulut.

Just like their next opponents, Real Madrid, too, managed to get their season back on track following some very unexpected setbacks.

The team reached their peak in the crucial part of the campaign, meaning they are well position to turn this season into a huge success.

The comfortable triumph in the first leg proved just how ruthless los Blancos are up front, and having scored another five goals at the weekend, they look a good bet to continue their rich vein of form in Istanbul.

Real Madrid are no less than 1.73 (8/11) at bet365 to see off their opponents once again, with Cristiano Ronaldo 4.00 (3/1) at Ladbrokes to score the first goal.

Having rested most of his starters at the weekend, Jose Mourinho is now set to restore his strongest starting line-up.

The Portuguese coach is, however, without Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos, who are both suspended after picking up three yellow cards.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Lopez – Arbeloa, Varane, Pepe, Coentrao – Khedira, Modric – Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo – Higuain.
