Borussia Dortmund are set to be without captain Mats Hummels for what is a crunch UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge.

Lucien Favre’s men head into the game at the Jan-Breydel Stadion with just one win from their opening two Champions League, meaning a victory against their hosts could be key in qualifying for the next round.

They will have to do that without skipper Hummels though, with the central defender having suffered a hamstring injury in the win against Armenia Bielefeld at the weekend, a game in which he netted twice.

Talking ahead of the game in Belgium, Favre said: “Unfortunately Mats Hummels will not be available tomorrow. We are hoping that he’ll be fully fit for Saturday [vs Bayern Munich].

“We only have one fit central defender who is used to playing in back four, so we’ll have to see how we set up defensively tomorrow.”

Hummels is the latest to join a long list of defensive injuries at the Signal Iduna Park. Dan-Axel Zagadou is out with a knee problem, whilst Emre Can, Marcel Schmelzer and Nico Schulz are all also restricted to the sidelines.

Despite those absentees, Dortmund still sit at a price of 7/10 with Betfair to win on Wednesday evening.
