Borussia Dortmund vs Malaga preview

Malaga vs Borussia DortmundBorussia missed a great opportunity to put this tie to bed as they missed a number of clear-cut chances in the first leg, and the Millionaires clearly need to be more ruthless up front if they are to justify the favourites tag.

Their opponents also need to show a massive improvement in order to avoid defeat in Dortmund, and everything suggests we will see a very interesting match at Signal-Iduna Park.

As it quickly became clear that Borussia wouldn’t be able to keep up with Bayern Munich on domestic stage, the Millionaires opted to shift their focus towards their European campaign, which has produced excellent results.

Jurgen Klopp’s side proved their worth by coming out on top of the group of death, after outclassing the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax.

They then did really well to record a 5-2 aggregate victory over very good Shakhtar Donetsk side, and it was from that moment that people started nominating the German giants for the Champions League title.

The Millionaires continued the rich vein of form at La Rosaleda, in spite of missing several regular starters, but they just couldn’t make their domination count and had to settle for a goalless draw.

But having outplayed Malaga away from home, they look a good bet to see off their opponents at Signal-Iduna Park, with Coral paying 1.44 (4/9) on home win.

Team’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski is 1.80 (4/5) at BetVictor to score his sixth Champions League goal this season.

Key defender Mats Hummels is set to return after missing the last few matches through injury, but Jakub Blaszczykowski remains an injury doubt.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller – Piszczek, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer – Gundogan, Bender – Grosskreutz, Gotze, Reus – Lewandowski.

Having encountered all sorts of problems since the season started, Malaga have got to be congratulated for going this far in the Champions League, but don’t think for a second they are lacking in motivation to make it to the semi-finals.

The past week was extremely difficult for los Boquerones, and not only because a goalless draw against Borussia was followed by 4-2 defeat at Real Sociedad.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini’s father died last week, while team’s plane was struck by lightning three times as they travelled to the Basque country.

The players are, nonetheless, determined to overcome all problems and produce a good performance in Germany, but odds of 3.25 (9/4) offered at Ladbrokes on Malaga to qualify suggest that will be no easy task.

Manuel Pellegrini has a number of important players back to the side after they were rested at the weekend, with Eliseu the only footballer in the infirmary.

However, both Manuel Iturra and Weligton miss out through suspension, which only adds to the worries ahead of the trip to Germany.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Caballero – Gamez, Lugano, Demichelis, Antunes – Camacho, Toulalan – Joaquin, Baptista, Isco – Saviola.
