Leverkusen's Vidal challenges Munich's Schweinsteiger during their German Bundesliga soccer match in LeverkusenBayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has received a welcoming boost as star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger resumed training on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old has been out of action for three month as he initially picked up an ankle problem in the Champions League clash against Viktoria Plzen.

He was unfortunate to suffer a knee injury just as he resumed training during a training camp in Qatar, but has finally resumed full training.

“Schweinsteiger completed the whole session including the initial tactical drills, carried out behind closed doors, then the football fitness course ending with a shot at goal and the final three-against-three tournament,” a statement on club’s official website read.

While Bayern seem to have already secured a new Bundesliga title, they are likely to face a difficult task in an attempt to defend the Champions League trophy.

The Bavarians are set to face Premier League leaders Arsenal in the knockout stages, and are priced at 1.91 (10/11) to win the first leg at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich remain the number one favourites for the Champions League trophy, as they are 3.60 (13/5) to go all the way.
