Arsenal vs Milan preview

Arsenal face next to impossible task after the 4-0 defeat at San Siro, but the Gunners are boosted by two derby wins and go into this game high on confidence.

Milan are flying high following the 4-0 win over Palermo and given their four-goal advantage from the first leg, the tie is theirs to lose.

Arsenal needed some time to recover from the embarrassing defeat at San Siro and that was probably the main reason why the Gunners were eliminated from the FA Cup by Sunderland.

Their season appeared to be going down the drain when Tottenham took a two-goal lead at the Emirates, but Arsene Wenger’s side not only recorded a 5-2 win over Spurs, but also managed to beat Liverpool at Anfield, once again after coming from behind.

The 2-1 victory over Liverpool came at a cost as Mikel Arteta, Kieran Gibbs and Yossi Benayoun all picked up injuries at Anfield and the trio is now doubtful for the Milan clash.

Abou Diaby returned into action from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but he has now suffered a new hamstring injury.

Nobody believes Arsenal are capable of overturning a four-goal deficit, but you should know home win pays 2.20 (6/5) at Paddy Power.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Szczesny – Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs – Arteta, Song – Walcott, Rosicky, Gervinho – Van Persie.

AC Milan are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in their recent history and the Rossoneri simply look unstoppable at the moment.

The impressive Champions League victory over Arsenal gave the team an extra boost and they went on to record two convincing away victories over Cesena and Palermo, while coming really close to beating Juventus at home.

The 4-0 away win over Palermo, a team that boast second-best home record in Serie A, proved that Maxi Allegri’s side are on top of their game at the moment, and they really have no reason to fear resurgent Arsenal.

In spite of the huge advantage from the first leg, the visitors are aware they cannot afford to relax just yet and we can expect another strong performance from the Serie A leaders.

Considering that Milan will mostly be looking to frustrate their opponents, I see a good value in odds of 3.60 (13/5) offered on draw.

Clarence Seedorf, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Alexandre Pato, Alberto Aquilani, Alexander Merkel, Rodney Strasser and Mathieu Flamini, Antonio Cassano and Sulley Muntari are all unavailable.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Abbiati – Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Mesbah – Nocerino, Van Bommel, Ambrosini – Emanuelson – Ibrahimovic, Robinho.
