Tony Cascarino has criticised Chelsea forward Timo Werner for his performance against Manchester City this past weekend.

Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to City at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus scored the only goal of the Premier League game in the second half.

Werner played for the Blues, but the Germany international forward failed to make an impact.

Former Chelsea striker Cascarino has criticised Werner, and believes that the Blues fans are running out of patience with him.

Cascarino wrote in The Times: “If you wanted to show young coaches the best possible example of how two strikers should not play together, you could just put on a video of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku’s performances for Chelsea against Manchester City.

“I was in the ground and you needed to be there to even realise they were on the same pitch because they were too far apart to ever be in the same frame on the TV coverage.

“Werner is running out of time with Chelsea fans, and that will not change if he does not learn how to feed off Lukaku. The two of them and Thomas Tuchel could do a lot worse than watch how Brentford played against Liverpool. Every time the ball was played to Ivan Toney, his partner, Bryan Mbeumo, was close and ready to receive the ball.”

Werner has made two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season, providing one assist in the process.

Chelsea can be backed at 13/5 on Betfair to win the Premier League title this season.
