Tony Cascarino has claimed that Arsenal can finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
The former Chelsea striker made the comments in the wake of Arsenal winning 3-1 against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
It was the Gunners’ third successive win in the Premier League this season.
Cascarino believe that not playing in Europe this season could enable Arsenal to finish in the Premier League top four.
The pundit wrote in The Times: “Arsenal can make the top four, and that is not an overreaction after their win against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.
“Mikel Arteta’s side do not have any European distractions this season, meaning the Spaniard has ample time to prepare his side each week and — barring an injury crisis — has every opportunity to prove his worth as a manager.
“This was the first time that Arsenal looked like a proper Arteta team. They have sat off opponents far too often under the former midfielder, but at the Emirates yesterday they played with an energy and ambition that they had previously lacked.
“Even the way they celebrated their goals demonstrated their commitment to the project. Emile Smith Rowe slid on to his knees and was ecstatic after opening the scoring, while Arteta jumped up and down as if he had won the FA Cup again. The whole team mobbing each other was further proof of their unity.”
Arsenal can be backed at 15/2 on Betfair to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
