Former Barcelona hero Xavi has said that he is now ready to step into the managerial hotseat at the Camp Nou.

The ex-midfielder retired last year and is currently the Head Coach of Qatari outfit Al-Sadd, the club at which he hung up his boots. He has one eye on the future though and has aspirations of taking the reins at club where he commenced his career but did want all decisions to remain with him whilst in charge.

Talking to La Vanguardia, Xavi said: “I am clear that I want to return to Barcelona, it gives me a lot of excitement.

“Now that I have seen myself coaching I think I can bring things to the players.

“But I made it clear to them that I saw myself in a project that started from zero and in which the decision-making was mine.”

Throughout his career with Barcelona, Xavi became a hero with the club after making 767 appearances in all competitions. In that time, the Spaniard was a key reason as to why the Catalans lifted eight La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey and four UEFA Champions League crowns.

Barcelona are currently available at a price of 4/7 with the Betfair exchange to win La Liga this season.
