Gabriel paulistaVillarreal coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has admitted that highly rated defender Gabriel Paulista will be allowed to join Arsenal.

The Gunners are believed to have launched an assault on the Brazilian centre-back, who has confessed that he is open to moving to North London.

Shortly after a report in El Larguero suggested that Arsenal would be prepared to match the player’s €20 million release clause, Villarreal boss Marcelino has all but confirmed the rumours.

“I hadn’t considered selling Gabriel, it’s bad news from a sporting point of view,” the talented coach was quoted as saying.

“If both Gabriel and the club believe that his sale to Arsenal is the best for all parties, we will accept.”

Gabriel Paulista, 24, has largely impressed since joining the club from Vitoria, making 37 La Liga appearances for the Yellow Submarine.

It remains to be seen whether he will be in the match squad when Villarreal host Getafe in the first leg of Copa del Rey quarter-finals, where home win pays 1.36 (4/11).
