Luis Suarez is set to miss his reunion with former club Barcelona at the weekend after he tested positive for coronavirus.

The striker is currently away on international duty with Uruguay, receiving a positive test result alongside goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and a member of staff.

The trio are reportedly all asymptomatic and will now observe a period of self-isolation in line with government protocols.

That means that the players will now miss an upcoming World Cup qualifier against Brazil, as well as Suarez being ruled out of the La Liga clash against his former employers Barcelona.

Diego Simeone’s men host the Catalan giants at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday evening, a game that would have been Suarez’s first appearance against Barca since his summer switch.

Ever since that transfer, he has been in terrific form for the Rojiblancos, leading the scoring charts at the club alongside youngster Joao Felix with five goals from six league games. He previously netted 195 goals and provided 113 assists in over six years at the Camp Nou.

Without him, Atleti will be aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the league campaign and currently sit at price of 19/10 with William Hill to win on Saturday evening.
