Real vs Atletico 0-1Real Madrid resume the league action following the international break with a local derby against Atletico Madrid, with los Blancos desperate to make amends for the 4-2 loss to Real Sociedad.

Their rivals, on the other hand, aim to prove they are still a force to be reckoned with in Spain and keep their unbeaten record intact.

Last season can be dubbed a success for los Merengues even if they ended up missing out on the league trophy, with Champions League and Copa del Rey titles added to their trophy cabinet.

The club officials, nonetheless, ensured the squad were further reinforced by adding the likes of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, Javier Hernandez and Keylor Navas, although Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso were both allowed to leave.

While winning the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla, Real Madrid were pipped by Atletico Madrid to the Spanish Super Cup, so this will be a perfect opportunity to get revenge.

Los Blancos also had a poor start to the league campaign, failing to impress in the 2-0 win over Cordoba before losing to Real Sociedad after squandering a two-goal lead.

This basically means that a win against Atletico is a must, and the hosts are 1.73 (8/11) with Coral to succeed in their quest.

Good news is that Cristiano Ronaldo is fully recovered from a muscle problem, and he is 1.95 (19/20) to mark his return with a goal.

Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Marcelo have resumed full training, but Daniel Carvajal and Sami Khedira picked up injuries on international duty.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Arbeloa, Pepe, Ramos, Carvalho – Modric, Kroos – Bale, James, Ronaldo – Benzema.

Atletico Madrid did see a number of star players leave after the title-winning season, but the most important thing is the club seem to have managed to sign proper replacements.

The Spanish Super Cup victory over star-studded Real Madrid proved los Colchoneros can still mix it up with the best of them, and things will only get better when the new signings gel properly.

Diego Simeone’s side were unable to break the deadlock in the opening La Liga fixture against Rayo Vallecano, but they have since returned to winning ways by beating Eibar.

Atletico obviously face a much tougher task this time out, but it has to be noted that away win pays 5.50 (9/2) at Betfair.

Diego Simeone continues to serve an eight-match ban, meaning his assistant German Burgos will be in the dugout, but that is unlikely to prove a major issue.

The visitors have absolutely no selection worries, while Tiago Mendes looks set to be preferred to Mario Suarez in the centre of the park.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Moya – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Siqueira – Garcia, Gabi, Tiago, Koke – Griezmann – Mandzukic.
