Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has been dealt another significant injury blow having been ruled out for six months following surgery.

The Frenchman suffered a serious hamstring tear last week which required surgery, the recovery from which is set to rule him out until at least the end of the current season and potentially even the 2020 European Championships.

It is the latest in a long line of injury woes that Dembele has suffered since joining Barcelona in a big-money transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Prior to his latest problem, he was already making his comeback from a thigh injury that he ironically picked up against his former club in UEFA Champions League action.

As a result, he has only completed three full matches for the Catalan giants this season, missing a total of 63 games throughout his time in Spain. As a matter of fact, he has not managed to play more than 30 league games in a season for the club at all.

His best season came last term as he scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Barca are in action this weekend as they face a top of the table clash against Getafe at the Camp Nou. Quique Setien’s troops are currently at 4/11 with Paddy Power to win the match.
