Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar has suggested that he is eyeing a reunion with former teammate Lionel Messi next season.
The two previously played together during the Brazilian’s stint at Barcelona before he departed for the French capital in a world record transfer. They had combined excellently with Uruguayan Luis Suarez, with the trio becoming one of the most potent strikeforces in world football and firing the Catalan club to the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League final.
Now in his third season in France, and with Messi reportedly angling for a move away from the Spanish giants, Neymar has indicated his desire for the Argentine to join him at PSG as soon as next season.
Talking after his side’s 3-1 win against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening, he said: “What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch.
“He can play in my place, I have no problem with that. But I want to play with him next year, for sure. We have to do it next season.”
Following their victory at Old Trafford, a game in which he scored, Neymar’s PSG can be backed at a price of 10/1 with William Hill to win the Champions League at the end of the season.
