Manchester City are yet to make an offer to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, it has been reported.
The Argentine’s contract at the Camp Nou expires in just four months’ time, with no sign of a renewal on the horizon. According to ESPN, Manchester City remain the most interested in making a move for Messi come the summer but are yet to submit an official bid to the player’s representatives.
The 33-year-old has made clear of his desire to move on from the Catalan giants since last summer after Barca’s shocking 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
A switch did not end up coming to fruition, with even La Liga getting involved in the dispute between the player and the club.
Messi now looks set to move on in the summer on a free transfer, bringing to an end one of the most remarkable unions in world football. After progressing through the La Masia academy, he has won four UEFA Champions Leagues, 10 La Ligas and four Copas del Rey.
Despite a slow start to the current campaign, Messi has netted 20 goals and eight assists in all competitions. He can be backed at a price of 6/4 with Betfair to open the scoring at home to Cadiz on Sunday.
