La Liga ‘impossible to win’ admits Suarez

Luis Suarez has all but conceded the La Liga crown to Real Madrid, admitting that the title is ‘impossible to win’ for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana sit four points behind Real Madrid with just two matches of the season left to play. Zinedine Zidane’s men need just a maximum of one victory to claim their first championship since the 2016/17 season.

With it now looking unlikely that Barcelona will lift La Liga this season, Suarez has suggested that they are instead targeting glory in the UEFA Champions League.

Talking to Diario Sport, the Uruguayan said: “If I am being honest, the league has become impossible to win.

“We have lost opportunities, against Sevilla, Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid. Aspas’ goal in the Vigo game hurt a lot, as we lost a big chance.

“Now we must focus on the Champions League, that is our target.”

As it stands, Barca have a great opportunity to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition. They secured a 1-1 draw in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League clash with Napoli and with it a crucial away goal.

Quique Setien’s troops can be backed at a price of 9/1 with Paddy Power to claim their first European crown since the 2014/15 season.
