Granada vs Real Madrid preview

Granada vs Real MadridGranada’s La Liga campaign got off to a perfect start as los Rojiblancos defeated Osasuna away, and they are now hoping to extend the good run of results against mighty Real Madrid.

Los Blancos recorded a hard-fought victory over Real Betis at the Bernabeu, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind another one of those at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

Granada needed to work hard for La Liga survival last season and they are certainly aiming to avoid the relegation tussle alltogether this term.

Due to their affiliate links with Udinese and Watford, los Rojiblancos have seen quite a few players leave this summer, but they were almost no major departures.

Meanwhile, they managed to sign Piti from Rayo Vallecano and few more decent footballers, with Manuel Iturra probably the most notable arrival.

Boss Lucas Alcaraz appears to have done well to integrate the new signings into the squad, with Granada starting the campaign with a 2-1 away victory over Osasuna.

The hosts now face a much tougher task, but having beaten Real Madrid in the same fixture last season, bear in mind home win pays 9.00 (8/1) at Coral.

Striker Odion Ighalo is unlikely to play despite arriving from Udinese on another season-long loan, but Riki returns from suspension. Carlos Aranda is doubtful with a muscle strain.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Roberto – Nyom, Mainz, Murillo, Angulo – Brahimi, Iturra, Yebda, Benitez – El Arabi, Piti.

Having failed to win any of three major trophies last term, Real Madrid will have a lot to prove this term, with Carlo Ancelotti trusted to take the team to the next level.

While everybody at the club awaits the arrival of Gareth Bale, los Blancos are preparing for the second league fixture of the season, hoping to avoid a slow start that ended up costing them the title last term.

Real Madrid experienced all sorts of problems in their opening game against Real Betis, but summer signing Isco came to the rescue, scoring the winner few minutes from time.

Los Merengues are now expected to continue the winning run in Granada, with away win paying 1.36 (4/9) at Paddy Power.

After failing to score in the season opener, Cristiano Ronaldo is 3.50 (5/2) at BetVictor to score the first goal at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

Asier Illarramendi has resumed full training, but Raphael Varane, Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira and Denis Cheryshev are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Lopez – Carvajal, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo – Modric, Casemiro, Isco – Ozil, Benzema, Ronaldo.
