Borussia Dortmund defender Achraf Hakimi has expressed his excitement at the prospect of returning to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The Moroccan originally signed for the Bundesliga giants on a two-year loan deal at the beginning of last season and has continued to impress for the club over that time. He has made a total of 45 appearances in all, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists.

Hakimi also put in a starring performance in mid-week as Dortmund came from 2-0 behind to beat Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, netting two goals in the second-half.

Despite his success at the Signal Iduna Park, he says he is looking forward to returning to the Bernabeu to challenge for a regular place with Los Blancos.

Talking to Cadena Ser, he said: “Return to Madrid? Why not? Madrid is my home and I grew up there. I am in Borussia until the end of the season and then we’ll see.”

Hakimi will aim to extend his tremendous form this weekend as Dortmund take on Bayern Munich in the first Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena. He can be backed at a price of 20/1 with Betfair to net the opening goal of the match.
