Barcelona vs Real Sociedad preview

Barcelona vs Real SociedadLa Liga leaders Barcelona will be aiming to keep their 100% record intact when they welcome Real Sociedad on Tuesday, with La Real currently on a four-match winless run in the league.

While opening their season with a 7-0 triumph over weak Levante, the Catalans experienced some problems in the next few weeks, scoring a total of two goals in next three competitive fixtures.

They then struggled against both Valencia and Sevilla, but appear to have finally hit the ground running following a slow start.

The 4-0 triumphs over Ajax and Rayo Vallecano are enough to suggest that Gerardo Martino’s side are slowly clicking into gear, although there is little value in backing the hosts at 1.14 (1/7) at Paddy Power.

Having scored at least three goals in every one of their last four outings, Barcelona are 1.53 (8/15) with Stan James to continue the trend.

Gerardo Martino is likely to make some changes to the starting line-up, with Andres Iniesta, Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez set to be recalled.

Meanwhile, Sergio Busquets has resumed full training, but Jordi Alba, Carles Puyol, Ibrahim Afellay and Isaac Cuenca are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Valdes – Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Adriano – Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta – Pedro, Messi, Sanchez.

Real Sociedad produced quite a coup by pipping Valencia to a fourth-place finish last term and they did really well to see off Lyon in the Champions League play-off stage.

However, the hectic schedule in the opening exchanges proved too much for La Real, who have been struggling ever since they secured their place in Europe’s elite competition.

Home defeat to Atletico Madrid was followed by draws against Levante and Malaga, while the team were also beaten at home by Shakhtar Donetsk in their opening Champions League fixture.

La Real are now winless and last four games and haven’t scored a single goal in last three, but the good news is they are still creating plenty of chances to score.

Given team’s huge attacking potential, I believe there is a huge value in backing Real Sociedad to register a goal at Camp Nou, at odds of 1.80 (4/5) offered at Sportingbet.

With Esteban Granero, Gorka Elustondo and Diego Ifran still sidelined, boss Jagoba Arrasate is unlikely to make major changes to his starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Bravo – C. Martinez, M. Gonzalez, I. Martinez, De La Bella – Bergara, Pardo – Vela, Prieto, Griezmann – Seferovic.
