Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Jesse Lingard will bounce back from the mistake he made against Young Boys on Tuesday evening.

The Premier League giants suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Young Boys away from home in their opening Champions League Group F game.

Cristiano Ronaldo, re-signed from Juventus in the summer transfer window, put United in the lead in the 13th minute.

The Red Devils went down to 10 men on 33 minutes when Aaron Wan-Bissaka was shown a straight red fo a challenge on Christopher Martins.

Moumi Ngamaleu equalised for the Swiss club midway through the first half.

Then in the fifth minute of injury time, Lingard made a mistake by trying to play the ball back to United goalkeeper David De Get, and Jordan Siebatcheu took advantage of it to score the winner.

Solskjaer told United’s official website: “That happens in a game. That’s football. Up and downs.

“You’ve got big moments, you’ve got moments that go for you and against you. He’ll handle that one, and we’ll handle it.”

Despite the loss, United are rated at 1/14 on Betfair to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League from Group F.
