Olivier Giroud backs Frank Lampard for Newcastle job

Olivier Giroud has said that his former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard would be a good appointment for Newcastle United.

Newcastle are reportedly looking to bring in a new manager and sack Steve Bruce.

There are reports that Bruce could lose his managerial job at Newcastle before the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Former Chelsea midfielder and manager Lampard is a leading candidate to replace Bruce, according to The Sun.

AC Milan striker Giroud worked with Lampard at Chelsea, and the Frenchman believes that the former Derby County manager would be a good managerial appointment for Newcastle.

Giroud said on talkSPORT (8:53am, October 12, 2021) about Lampard potentially going to Newcastle: “Yeah, definitely, I talked to him a little bit last year.

“I think he is looking forward for a good challenge to come back as a manager, and I think he is a good option. Definitely. 

“I believe Newcastle is a big team in the Prem, and it’s a good challenge for him to bounce back and to show his quality.”

Lampard can be can be backed at 6/1 on Betfair to become the next permanent Newcastle manager.
