Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe will remain out of the side for his team’s clash with Reims on Wednesday evening after losing an appeal.

The 19-year-old was struck with a three-match ban after tangling with Teji Savenier in PSG’s recent 4-2 victory over Nimes at the start of September. He originally appealed against the suspension but the French Football Federation have upheld the ban, with Mbappe set to make his return against Nice at the weekend. The ex-AS Monaco star has already served two matches of his suspension.

The youngster has had an otherwise positive start to the season after making his switch to the Parc de Princes a permanent one in the summer after initially linking up on loan. He has made three appearances throughout 2018/19 so far and has scored four goals and provided a further assist. He also continued his form in the UEFA Champions League as he scored against Liverpool despite an eventual 3-2 defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s troops.

Despite the absence of Mbappe, Thomas Tuchel’s men are still overwhelming favourites to claim victory against Reims, with odds of 1/9 with Paddy Power. Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani is the favourite to open the scoring and can be backed at 5/2 with bookmakers BetVictor.
