Olympique Lyonnais have warned clubs interested in striker Moussa Dembele that the club intend on keeping the French striker throughout the remainder of the season.

The deterrent comes after reported interest in the former Celtic forward from Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, with the Blues’ transfer ban having been lifted in time for the January transfer window.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the French club told: “Olympique Lyonnais has taken note of certain information relayed by the media suggesting that Moussa Dembele could interest other clubs during this transfer window.

“We would like to reaffirm its wish, as in the summer of 2019, to keep Moussa Dembele.

“The club has full confidence in Moussa and counts in particular on him to build a successful team for the seasons to come.”

Dembele, 23, has enjoyed another prolific campaign with Lyon so far during the 2019/20 season. In 18 Ligue 1 appearances, he has hit ten goals and only sits behind Kylian Mbappe and Wissam Ben Yedder in the league’s goalscoring stakes.

In 71 appearances in all competitions since signing from Scottish outfit Celtic, Dembele has netted 30 goals.

He currently sits as odds of 9/1 with Betfair to claim the Golden Boot in France at the conclusion of the season.
