First Merseyside derby of the season welcomes both Liverpool and Everton in high spirits.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are unbeaten in last nine matches across competition and are back to playing a high-tempo, heavy-metal football whereas Sam Allardyce’s Everton seem to have turned a corner with three successive victories.

It all suggests we should be in for a sizzling clash at Anfield this Sunday.

Liverpool only needed a point from their final Champions League group stage clash against Spartak Moscow to go through as group winners but they still ended up putting an extra effort to record a comprehensive 7-0 victory over the Russian side.

Playmaker Coutinho scored a hat-trick whereas Sadio Mane completed a brace, with Firmino and Salah contributing with one apiece for a highly compelling scoreline.

The Egypt international Mo Salah used the occasion to continue his impressive scoring run which currently stands at 18 goals in all competitions for the Reds. Former Chelsea winger is widely expected to extend the run and can be found at 1.60 (3/5) to score anytime against Everton.

Klopp is without Joel Matip and Adam Lallana who are both injured.

Probable starting line-ups (4-3-3): Mignolet – Gomez, Lovren, Klavan, Moreno – Can, Henderson, Coutinho – Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Having invested quite a significant amount of money during the summer transfer window, Everton saw their Premier League plans and ambitions get ruined by an incomprehensibly poor run of form.

The Toffees parted ways with Ronaldo Koeman and after some deliberation chose to bring in the experienced Premier League veteran Sam Allardyce. David Unsworth should be credited for keeping the ship steady through tumultuous times and it now finally appears as if the Toffees are rising back up to their feet.

Three wins on the trot without a single goal conceded is a positive sign, but the forthcoming Merseyside derby will be the great test to Everton’s improvements.

The Goodison-based club lost last three meetings with their local rivals and are seen as the outside favourites at 8.00 (9/1) to win at Anfield.

Injury crisis continues for Everton who will be without Baines, Bolasie, Coleman, Barkley, Mori and Stekelenburg, whereas James McCarthy has a slight chance of being in contention.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Pickford – Kenny, Holgate, Williams, Martina – Gueye – Lennon, Davies, Rooney, Sigurdsson – Calvert-Lewin.
