Leicester City to make move for Andre Almeida

Having already acquired the services of Adrien Silva and Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon, former Premier League champions Leicester City are looking to get back to the Portuguese market this winter.

The Foxes are just weeks away from having their £22 million summer investment Silva at disposal following the registration fail which forced the Portuguese star to miss months of Premier League action and the 28-year-old midfielder could be joined by another compatriot at King Power Stadium.

Namely, Leicester City are said to be keeping close tabs on Benfica right-back Andre Almeida and that a January bid is being prepared in excess of £6 million.

The Foxes have already watched Amleida in action but the club manager Claude Puel was personally in attendance for Benfica’s 5-1 beating of Tondela on Sunday to get another look at his January target.

The 27-year-old is said to be well-aware of the Leicester City’s interest with Portuguese media Ojogo claiming a deal could be in place this January.

Almeida is understood to be tempted by the prospect of moving to England and Leicester City are determined to have a deal for the 27-year-old versatile defender, who can provide cover at left-back and central midfield, wrapped up in time and without any bureaucratic issues.

Foxes have also been linked with Hoffenheim right-back Pavel Kaderabek last week.

Leicester City are playing host to Manchester City on Tuesday night as they look to stun the in-form Premier League title contenders in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals.

Puel’s stand at 6.50 (11/2) betting odds to surprise the Citizens who could drop their guard a bit in this non-priority competition.
