Serie A fallen giants Inter Milan have reportedly identified Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma as their top transfer target as Nerazzuri seek to strengthen their defence line for next season.

Inter Milan have endured a difficult season in the Italian top flight as the club failed to break into the race for top places in Serie A standings and are looking for yet another season out of Europe.

Nerazzurri are sitting in eight place in the standings and are coming off from a disappointing 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Sassuolo, which has seen club supporters leave the stadium in protest.

Italian heavyweights have undergone two managerial changes already this season with Ronald de Boer and Stefano Pioli both getting sacked after a string of disappointing results. Interim manager Stefano Vecchi will oversee the team’s final two matches this season and he faces a difficult challenge in the next round.

Inter are visiting high-flying Lazio and are priced at 3.25 (9/4) betting odds to perform a surprise win at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

With the end of the season around the corner, new club owners are thought to be already preparing a list of potential signings and Tuttosport are claiming that the 22-year-old Chelsea centre-back is a new potential target, with club’s hopes of landing Antonio Rudiger fading fast.

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is planning to open talks with the player who will be allowed to leave on loan at the end of season, after falling behind in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

French defender battled a career-threatening knee injury to get back in the team, but faces uncertainty as Blues look to add a more established defender for the next season and Zouma will be loaned out by the club next season.

Whether a team without a place in Europe would come under consideration, however, remains to be seen.
