Tottenham Hotspur central defender Joe Rodon has said that he does not think that his Wales international teammate Gareth Bale will retire.

Bale spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Tottenham from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The winger did not have the best of times at Spurs, and there has been speculation in the Spanish media that he will retire.

The 31-year-old’s current contract at Madrid runs until the summer of 2023.

However, there have been reports claiming that Bale plans to retire from football altogether after the Euro 2020 finals this summer.

Wales are rated at 4/1 by Betfair to reach the quarter-finals of the European Championship this summer.

Tottenham and Wales international centre-back Rodon does not think that Bale will hang up his boots so early in his career.

When asked if Bale might retire after the Euros, Rodon told Sky Sports:”No chance! It’s all on Gareth and I’ve got nothing to do with that, but none of us at Wales want him anywhere near retirement and we want him for as long as possible.”

Rodon added: ”He’s been brilliant with me since the first day I walked in through the doors at Tottenham. He’s just a big kid!

“He’s brilliant to have around the dressing room, and obviously, everyone knows what he does on the football pitch. Off it, he’s just brilliant to have around and he’s a great character.”
