Inter Milan are set to be without star striker Romelu Lukaku for Wednesday’s clash against Sampdoria.

The Belgian forward, who has continued his excellent form this season, netted in the 6-2 win against Crotone at the weekend, his 50th Serie A appearance, but was withdrawn with a muscle injury in the 75th minute.

Whilst the problem did not look too serious, the 27-year-old is set to be assessed and according to Corriere dello Sport, he will sit out Wednesday’s clash at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Despite that, depending on the severity of his injury, Lukaku should be back for the weekend’s clash against AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

In his absence, Argentinian forward Lautaro Martinez will hope to step up again. The 23-year-old hit a hat-trick against Crotone, taking his Serie A total for the 2020/21 season to nine goals and four assists

Martinez currently sits at odds of 7/2 with William Hill to hit the opening goal of the game against Sampdoria on Wednesday.

Inter head into the game second in the Serie A table after 15 matches one behind behind great rivals AC Milan, who are so far undefeated. Meanwhile, current league champions Juventus sit fifth and ten points behind the leaders.
