AS Roma are just one step away from securing their place in the Champions League group stages, and they are not expected to have any problems in the final fixture against Genoa.

The Rossoblu have been largely disappointing of late, but at least managed to secure Serie A survival thanks to a 2-1 triumph over Torino.

Nobody can deny the fact that this has been one of AS Roma’s most successful league campaigns in recent years, and a second-place finish would be a just reward for their efforts.

However, it would appear as though the local media are not too happy with Luciano Spalletti, who is widely expected to quit the post having not been given the credit he deserves.

This would be a real shame since the former Udinese boss turned AS Roma into one of league’s most exciting sides and it was their amazing away performances that kept making the headlines.

The Giallorossi not only won seven of last nine away fixtures in all competitions, but did so in style as their average winning margin in those games was remarkable 2.86 goals.

And having won a total of 14 matches on the road this season, AS Roma appear to have become a real force to be reckoned with.

Oddly enough, their performances at Stadio Olimpico left something to be desired, but having returned to winning ways against Juventus, the Genoa clash should be a mere walk in the park.

Edin Dzeko is expected to keep his place after recovering from injury, but Alessandro Florenzi remains on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Szczesny – Rudiger, Fazio, Manolas, Emerson – Strootman, De Rossi – Salah, Nainggolan, El Shaarawy – Dzeko.

Genoa have been on a major downtrend in recent years and the team almost got relegated this term in spite of the bright start.

As the season unfolded, the Rossoblu struggled to repeat the performances from the early exchanges and kept descending down the Serie A standings.

Back to back home wins over Europa League hopefuls Inter Milan and Torino eventually saw Genoa secure the top flight survival, but it is clear nobody at the club can be satisfied with the outcome of this season.

The Rossoblu will attempt to show some improvement at Stadio Olimpico after losing six of last seven away fixtures, failing to score a single goal in those defeats.

Genoa will be without Armando Izzo through suspension, whereas first choice goalkeeper Mattia Perin is a long-term casualty.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Lamanna – Biraschi, Burdisso, Gentiletti – Lazovic, Rigoni, Veloso, Cofie, Laxalt – Pinilla, Palladino.
