Inter Milan vs AS Roma preview

Inter Milan desperately need to end the barren run of results in the high-profile game against AS Roma, or else they could be effectively out of the title chase.

The Giallorossi are also going through a rough patch at the moment, and they could really use a morale-boosting victory at the moment.

Inter Milan had enjoyed a near-perfect start to the new league campaign that saw them battle with Juventus and Napoli for the first place in the standings.

The Nerazzurri briefly climbed to the Serie A summit after a resounding victory over Chievo, but they would soon begin to struggle.

While they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia by AC Milan, Inter failed to win any of their last five league fixtures, allowing the top two sides to get away from the chasing pack.

And while back to back draws vs Lazio and Fiorentina can be seen as steps in the right direction, Luciano Spalletti’s men will have to start winning if they want to salvage this season.

Joao Miranda and Danilo D’Ambrosio could be back to the side, with only young defender Zinho Vanheusden unavailable through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Handanovic – Cancelo, Skriniar, Miranda, Santon – Gagliardini, Vecino – Candreva, Valero, Perisic – Icardi.

Similar to their next opponents, AS Roma enjoyed a bright start under a new head coach, but surprisingly began to struggle when the busy schedule was over.

It appears that the players are now suffering ill-effects of the difficult first part of the season, with four successive setbacks definitely a cause for concern.

AS Roma were also eliminated from Coppa Italia by losing at home, while taking one point from last three league games, so they will be keen to try and return to winning ways at San Siro Stadio.

The Giallorossi did not exactly impress on the road of late, failing to win any of their last four away matches, and they will have a difficult job in Milano.

Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan are back in contention, but the visitors are sweating over the fitness of Diego Perotti, who is struggling through a muscle problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Alisson – Bruno Peres, Fazio, Manolas, Kolarov – Pellegrini, De Rossi, Nainggolan – Florenzo, Dzeko, El Shaarawy.
