Fernando Torres makes Atletico Madrid return

TorresAC Milan striker Fernando Torres is set to join Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan, the Spanish club announced on their official website.

The Rossoneri earlier turned the forward’s loan deal from Chelsea into a permanent move, before allowing the former Spain star to return to his boyhood club.

Los Colchoneros have revealed that the transfer will be made official on 5th January, the day when winter transfer window is due to open in Italy.

“Fernando Torres returns to Atletico Madrid after an agreement was reached between our club and Milan as the international striker will play on loan for the remainder of the season and one more campaign.

“Signing with our club is subject to the relevant medical examination that the player must undergo to join the team.

“The loan will be official on January 5, the day the winter transfer market opens in Italy.”

Fernando Torres will be hoping to kick-start his career at Vicente Calderon following disappointing spells with Chelsea and AC Milan, with Atletico Madrid no less than 34.00 (33/1) for the La Liga title.
