AC Milan are reportedly planning on signing striker Mauro Icardi from great rivals Inter Milan.

The forward, currently on loan at Paris Saint Germain, fell out of favour at the San Siro last season, resulting in his temporary switch to the French capital. He has been in terrific form at the Parc des Princes, scoring 20 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions reportedly have an option to make the deal permanent for a price of £62m however according to Corriere dello Sport, Icardi is not planning on remaining with the club beyond the end of the current campaign.

As a result, AC Milan and Juventus are monitoring his situation in the hope of sealing the Argentine’s signature for approximately £75m. Talks have apparently already reportedly begun, with Milan looking the most likely to seal any deal.

Should Icardi make the move, he would of course be crossing the Milan divide. A former skipper of Inter Milan, the striker made 219 appearances and scored 124 goals after signing from fellow Italian outfit Sampdoria. His contract with the club is set to expire in the summer of 2022 but he looks unlikely to turn out for the club again having suffered a public spat with Luciano Spaletti during the 2018/19 season.
