One of the standout fixtures of the Serie A calendar occurs this weekend as AC Milan and Inter Milan clash at the San Siro on Sunday evening.

Both sides have had contrasting starts to the new season so far. Luciano Spalletti’s Inter currently sit third in the table having claimed 16 points out of their opening eight games. Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso’s troops are down in tenth, albeit having played a game less. Consequently, Inter are slight favourites and can be backed at 29/20 with William Hill, whereas Milan have odds of 2/1.

Five out of the last eight league games between the two teams have ended in draws, including a 0-0 stalemate the last time the duo met in April. A draw has odds of 23/10 with BetVictor.

The hosts come into the game in terrific form having won their last six games in all competitions. Their last league game ended in a 2-1 win over minnows SPAL. So far this season, the Nerazzurri have scored at least two goals in seven out of their ten games during the current campaign. They have odds of 6/5 with Coral to repeat that feat against their historic rivals.

Meanwhile, despite Milan sitting slightly lower down the table at this stage of the campaign, they have only lost one game so far this season in all competitions. That solitary defeat came right at the start of the season against Napoli. They won their last league game 3-1 against Chievo Verona. However, they have only claimed one clean sheet so far this season in all competitions with both teams having scored in every one of their matches but one this season. Therefore, a clever bet could be both teams to score at the San Siro. This eventuality can be backed at 4/6 with Coral.

Mauro Icardi is the favourite to score the first goal of the game at the San Siro having netted five goals in only eight games so far this season. He has odds of 19/4 to get the opening goal. According to the bookies, Gonzalo Higuain is the favourite to score the first goal from a Milan perspective. The Argentine has also started the season in fine form and can also be supported at 19/4.

Milan only have a one injury concern to contend with for the match with Ivan Strinic being ruled out. In regards to Inter, Matias Vecino could make his return to action after recovering from a muscle problem.
