Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus both need to be in razor sharp form heading into the final few months of the season.

The Citizens are still battling on four fronts both domestically and in Europe. They have lifted the Community Shield this season and are in the Carabao Cup final, whilst they also have the opportunity to lift the Premier League and Champions League.

Guardiola’s troops took their place in the League Cup final after Aguero scored the only goal of the game to win 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium, taking his season’s total to 15 goals. Jesus has also found his feet after a slow start to the campaign and Guardiola has said he needs both to continue their form if City are to lift more trophies.

Guardiola said: “We need it [for Aguero and Jesus to score’. When we just have one competition, normally you play the same 11 players but we play in three or four days in the FA Cup against Burnley at home and after three days we go to Newcastle, we know exactly tough it is.

“After that, come Chelsea and Arsenal. Sergio is not going to play every game and Gabriel is not going to play every game. What they have to do is play well, trust in them and try to score goals.”

Aguero can be backed at 7/1 to be named Premier League top scorer with Paddy Power, meanwhile Jesus is at 100/1.
