France boss Laurent Blanc has revealed that star midfielder Yann M’Vila could recover in time to face England in les Bleus’ opening game at the European Championship.

The Rennes midfielder suffered an ankle injury after landing awkwardly during the opening minutes of the warm-up game against Serbia.

It was first believed that the player could miss the group stage of the competition, but Laurent Blanc explains that the situation is much better than first thought.

“M’Vila is getting better, much better,” Blanc told reporters at a news conference.

He then added that PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi, who has a thigh problem, was also on the mend.

“There could be a nice surprise.”

Les Bleus largely impressed in their last friendly game against Serbia and they are now considered favourites in their opening game against injury plagued England.

France are priced at 2.60 (8/5) with 888sport, whereas the Three Lions are 3.25 (9/4) with Stan James to claim maximum points.
