French Super Cup match or Trophee des Champions will take place at the Red Bull Arena in New York, where Ligue 1 champions Montpellier will square off with Coupe de France winners Lyon.

La Paillade have shocked the entire footballing world by winning the Ligue 1 title last season, but nobody can say Rene Girard’s men didn’t deserve it.

MHSC climbed to the top of the standings at the very start of the league campaign and they managed to stay there despite having the likes of PSG and Lille breathing down their necks.

The biggest task in front of the club chiefs after such an amazing success was to try and keep the squad together, which was not easy given that top European sides were asking about Yanga-Mbiwa, Belhanda, Estrada and Giroud.

Even if Olivier Giroud was sold to Arsenal, the club did a great job to keep all other star players in the side, while reinforcing the squad with Dianel Congre, Anthony Mounier, Emanuel Herrera and Gaetan Charbonnier.

Having won all four games in pre-season, including the one against Kansas City just few days ago, MHSC look a good bet to lift the trophy at 2.00 (1/1) offered by Sportingbet.

Garry Bocaly has remained in France because of injury, while Abdelhamid El Kaoutari is away on international duty.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Jourdren – Congre, Yanga-Mbiwa, Stambouli, Bedimo – Saihi, Estrada, Belhanda – Utaka, Charbonnier, Ait Fana.

Last season was very disappointing for the French giants and not even the Coupe de France victory could improve the general impression.

Having lost the battle for the 3rd-place finish in Ligue1, les Gones have missed out on the Champions League qualification and they are hoping to do much better this term.

That could prove to be a mission impossible seeing that they have seen Ederson, Belfodil and Tafer leave the club, especially as few high-profile players could follow.

Criss, Cissokho, Kallstrom, Lloris and Bastos are all nearing the exit door, while it appears there will be no major signings in the summer transfer window.

In spite of some under-par showings in pre-season, Lyon have been made 2.60 (8/5) at BetVictor favourites to win Trophee des Champions in regular time.

Lisandro Lopez should be fit to play despite injuring his ankle in the friendly draw against Montreal Impact, while Michel Bastos is not in contention.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Lloris – Dabo, Kone, Cris, Cissokho – Gonalons, Grenier, Gourcuff – Briand, Gomis, Lisando.
