Timo Werner’s future at current employers RB Leipzig is still to be decided, according to sporting director Markus Krosche.

Rumours in recent times have seen the German forward linked primarily with a move to Liverpool, although both Barcelona and Chelsea are also thought to be interested.

With Werner having attracted plenty of interest, it now seems certain that he will depart the club relatively soon. However, Krosche has suggested that nothing concerning the striker’s future has been decided.

Talking to German television channel Sport1, he said: “Anything is possible. We don’t know how the transfer market will develop.

“We’re looking into a very foggy crystal ball. We don’t know what our resources will be like and what options the other clubs have.”

“It’s clear that Timo has attracted other clubs with his great performances, and his goals and assists.”

Whilst there is plenty still to be decided, he did also admit that any potential deals could be hampered due to the mass suspension of football in Europe due to the coronavirus.

Krosche said: “England has the same problems as us. It’s wrong to rely on things running differently there just because they have investors. Investors also have financial pressures.

“The crisis isn’t just affecting one industry, but rather has worldwide implications. We can’t estimate today whether current values will remain the same in six months.”

Werner’s 21 Bundesliga goals so far has seen RB Leipzig challenge at the top of the league table. At the current time, the club can be backed at odds of 44/5 with the Betfair Exchange to win the league.
